Author Talk: The Great Kosher Meat War
Thursday, April 3, 2025 • 5 Nisan 5785
7:00 PM - 8:00 PMZoom OnlyThe entire congregation is invited to hear the national award-winning author Scott Seligman speak about a little-known chapter in American Jewish history.
In The Great Kosher Meat War of 1902, Seligman describes how a group of immigrant Jewish women on New York's Lower East Side -- political novices -- organized a widespread and sometimes violent consumer boycott against price gouging in the kosher meat industry. Their successful activism has since been called "a modern Jewish Boston Tea Party."
